For the initial stages of my first semester, I stripped myself of all discipline by forcing my hand eye co-ordination to be as less controlled as possible. I had a quenching thirst to 'connect' with my subconscious and actually see what imagery and symbolism was embedded into my work that i'd never allowed myself to fully explore.
For the first part of this, I made a 100 slide presentation game, each slide with a random word, unrelated to anything and rules are as follows:
1) For each word, you have 60 seconds to draw the first thing that comes to your head
2) You can skip up to two words, however on the third one, you must draw the word.
3) Don't worry about the image making sense as you draw it, do NOT think about it!
I managed to get 10 sketches done before my time was up, and definitely, definitely can tell what representative forms are most dominant in my brain.
Bodies, faces and curvaceous morphs of the human anatomy is seeming to be my 'thing' and feels natural to me to lay our a figure on the paper, to narrate the concept my brain adapt to the word.
its clear to me from this exercise that I'm somewhat a symbolist of humanity, and am enveloped in bringing the form into a deconstructive state of a secondary reality.
I will progress with these as I develop my project further, right now, let the subconscious lead the way.
