Another week gone by, and here I am high on life. Totally buzzing with my work, I feel like it's just pouring out of me - finally a project I can totally sink my creepy teeth into!
So, after last week's accident, I managed to print out a few images online of entrails, hearts and brains (all juicy stuff), and apply them onto the collages as I go along. I've found that I'm drawn to the minimal imagery that says a lot, because when I add too many elements into the image, I feel it gets very busy and over-worked. So, after buying another fashion magazine, I've kept my theme running between gore, human assemblage and abstraction. By that I mean, cutting into the organs, so that there is no definition of which organ is actually what, almost an Ovid metamorphosis of entrails, placed symmetrically onto the figure in a way that looks like these organs are pouring out of the person, like an intimate spill of vulnerability.
Here's how I've got on so far...
At this stage, I'm starting to really want to use my own imagery, as secondary sources can be quite limited, I'm hoping to get my hands on some organs from the butcher and organise a photoshoot with myself and my partner in gorey crime, Alannah, who has agreed to model for me and snap some shots of me too.
And yes, I've already gotten too big for my boots, and come up with a punchy name for my work, let me informally introduce, The Goreology Series.
