After an enduring set up, lighting and safety checks, the show felt like a well deserved success after 2 years of study at Moray School of Art. The gallery felt welcoming and energetic, with a breadth of work that ranged in material, scale and concept which created an encouraging trail through each of the works, giving the viewer a sense of each students subjective reality.

The 'Family Portrait' had it's crowd of curiosity in motion, where viewers were getting really close to look into the sculptures, walking all the way around, soaking up each little detail, it was very refreshing to have engagement from various people asking questions and wanting to learn more in regards to the concept.

The collages also got their fair bit of attention, where some people thought they looked like part of the face and some thought it was an approach to cosmetic beauty cults. It was very interesting to have such a range of angles to rhizomatically spread my work into different categories that all embody the same representation.

It's safe to say that the open evening was a hit and overall encouragement to the students as there was a buzz of good feedback and appreciation for the work displayed, and even though it wasn't in the plan- one of us managed to sell a piece! Well done to each and every one of us!
